Proposed Amendments to Rules for Sutton Cricket Club AGM on 20 February 2024

  1. To replace the current Rule 4 with the following: –
  2. The officers of the Club shall be the Chair, Treasurer, Administration and Cricket Manager, Communications Manager, Grounds & Facilities Manager, Men’s Cricket Representative, Women & Girls Cricket Representative; Welfare & Safeguarding Officer and Executive Director of Sutton Cricket Club Ltd, hereinafter referred to individually as “Officer” and together as “Officers”.

Any of the offices may be left vacant in accordance with Rules 5 and 6.

Reasons for this change.

The reasons for the proposed changes are to respond positively to the changing circumstances within cricket nationally and especially the growth of our Women’s and Girls’ sections.  It is important their voice is heard. In addition, it is important to recognise the importance of Welfare and Safeguarding as well as redefining some of the Committee’s roles.

The 1st XI Men’s captain and frequently the Welfare & Safeguarding Officer have been invited to Committee Meetings over the past year. However, in these proposed changes, it is recognised that for good reason either the Men’s and/or Women’s captain may not wish to be on the Committee and hence why the position is a Representative.

  1. To replace the word “Chairman” with “Chair” in Rules 9 and 20
  2. To replace “Membership and Communications Manager” in Rules 13, 16, 19, 21 and 22 with: –

“The Officer with responsibility for Membership”

Reasons for changes 2 and 3

To tidy up the Rules to use modern language and to minimise unnecessary changes.
