We’re coming to the end of a fantastic weekend for the club, a weekend in which we won all 7 of the senior games we played. On Saturday, our 1st XI beat Dorking by 321 runs, thanks to 202* from Josh Blake, and 91 on debut from Fabian Cowdrey, who along with Dane Currency (another debutant) combined for 7-14 to bowl Dorking out for 89. Our 2nd XI chased 124 for the loss of 4 wickets against Dorking, and our 3rd XI chased 76 for the loss of 2 wickets against Streatham and Marlborough. Our 4th XI rounded out the Golden Saturday with a 5 wicket win at Chiswick. On Sunday, our Cheam Road XI won by 125 runs again against Streatham, thanks to a maiden senior hundred from Ahrujan Ragunathan (113) and 83 from Aarav Rajnikanth. Chris Morris’ 128* helped the Away XI chase 163 for the loss of just one wicket at Reigate, and our Ladies XI sealed the Golden Weekend thanks to their 6 wicket victory over Twickenham. We are happy to launch our brand new YouTube channel this week. It will feature a range of different videos, be it from player interviews with Connor Griffin, or match highlights, or live streams of cricket games. Click the title to take you to our channel.
It is with much sadness we learnt today of the death of Jenny Booth, the wife of Keith – one of our esteemed Vice Presidents.
Keith and Jenny made a wonderful team, always so full of vigour, and jointly had a great love and commitment to our wonderful game of cricket. Not only did they score countless matches for Surrey & England for more than 25 years, but worked together to enliven us with superb cricket books of past players and events.
We offer Keith our deepest sympathies at this sad and distressing time. He is the thoughts and prayers of all at Sutton Cricket Club.
