Letter from Oz - No. 8 and final edition! (March 11, 2008)
G'day all,
This will be my last update as I am only here for just under two weeks now and probably won’t have time to write another mail.
Had my last week of work last week which was a relief knowing I don’t have to get up early anymore. That went without too much hassle and managed not to tread on any more nails!
We lost the first prelim match to the team top of the table by 7 runs. We dominated the game for about 90% of it but they played better for an hour at the end of each day and beat us; so only ourselves to blame for that. Better news this week as we won the second chance match by 2 wickets. We chased 190 after another little collapse. Campbell made another 70 odd; Maisey took 5wkts and 40 odd. Jamie gave a catch to the keeper 2nd ball of the innings trying to leave it and I decided not to use my bat and was adjudged LBW, although it was high and I wasn’t the only one who thought it was a little harsh. Anyway we are in the grand final against the side we lost to the week before. Hopefully me and Jamie will keep our places as the crowds reach well into the 100's, so it will be brilliant to play in something like that.
Apart from the cricket I’m just enjoying the weather; regular 30s now and next week I'm planning to go to Newcastle and Sydney to see Nick Foster for a couple of days.
That is it; fingers and toes crossed for the weekend and next time I speak to you will be back on home soil, unless the country has been blown away by then!
Hope all is well and see you soon, Schoey. xx Click here to return to the News page
