High scoring Popinjays can only draw! (March 07, 2008)
Sutton CC draw the first match of their tour to Spain today, (7th March.)
Batting first, The Popinjays scored 291 for 3 with Russell Coombe scoring 100 not out (his maiden century for the club), John Lambe 90, John Fry 48 and Paul Liddiard 40 not out.
In reply, the XL Club of Spain reached 158 for 5 with Aaron Metz and David Lewis bagging 2 wickets apiece.
The temperature was 70 degrees and 72degrees is forecast for Saturday when Sutton look to retain the Valencian Cup.
