Cricketers from Overseas Welcome!
Sutton Cricket Club has a rich history of welcoming players from overseas to the club; and once again we are keen to open our doors to quality players from abroad. Those who wish to play for us will fall into one of two categories: ‘overseas professional;’ or, ‘general overseas.’
Overseas Professional
An overseas professional who joins the club needs to be of excellent cricketing pedigree; capable of performing consistently well at ECB: Premiership standard; expected to play a role during both junior and senior training nights; and immerse themselves wholeheartedly, into the club environment. SCC would be pleased to discuss a package that may well include expenses, accommodation and flights, etc., with prospective players who feel they may fit the role. Resumes and referees details would be appreciated. Overseas professionals who have played for the club recently include quality players such as Charl Willoughby (Somerset & Essex CCCs), Johann Myburgh (Hants CCC), and Mark Davis (Sussex CCC.)
OVERSEAS PRO POSITION FILLED FOR SEASON 2012.
General Overseas
Many overseas players’ have played for the club throughout the years whilst on gap breaks, extended UK holidays, business postings, etc; and we continue to extend to any player from abroad an invitation to join us for the summer. The club has room for all playing standards, since we run five Saturday XIs and three Sunday XIs, plus a mid-week XI. However, we don't pay a player’s travelling expenses or provide accommodation. As we receive a number of enquiries each year, we are careful to point this out to those wishing to come here to play as a, ‘general overseas.’ Team selection is on merit; and, ‘general overseas,’ players’ are treated just as any SCC member. As with all other members, a players membership fee would be due when joining the club. There may be opportunities for qualified coaches to be employed as a junior coach, for which expenses are paid.
If you are interested in joining Sutton CC as an overseas player, please, in the first instance, email Peter Edwards attaching your cricketing CV, (and references, if applying as, ‘Overseas Professional.’)
