Only a few days to go!
It is hard to believe that the cricket season begins on Sunday week. Yes; April 13th sees Keith Medlycott take a top quality XI to Kenton Court Meadow, for a pre-league season friendly against Sunbury CC, thus giving the players the opportunity to get used to outdoor conditions once again.
The following Saturday, (the day after the Dinner!) the first four XIs play pre-league season friendlies; the 1s, 2s, and 3s, against Bickley Park, with the 4s playing Addiscombe. Saturdays' April 26th and May 3rd see further pre-league season friendlies for all the club's XIs. Visit their respective fixtures page here for details.
Wednesday, 23rd April sees us celebrate St.George's Day with a Twenty/20 challenge match: Sutton CC XI v. Sutton Business Houses XI. In addition to the match, there's traditional English food, music, raffles, and much more English themed activity. Supper is £5, (U12s £3,) and the event starts at 4:00pm. Profits to be shared between the club's junior section and the London Community Cricket Association, a charity based at Plough Lane Beddington. Come along and greet the new season in a more than traditional way, while helping support two worthy causes! Details here.

Congratulations, Arun!
Arun Harinath has been selected as part of a strong MCC side to take on last year’s LV County Champions, Sussex, in the 2008 season curtain raiser at Lord’s, starting a week on Thursday, (10th April.)
Arun is on Surrey’s staff with a summer contract, while he completes his studies at Loughborough University. He is currently touring with the MCC British Universities squad in South Africa, but will return home at the end of this week to join the squad for the opening match of the season at Lord’s next week.
A talented left-handed batsman, Arun has been a member of this club since aged 8 and is one of many graduates of the Pemberton Greenish Surrey Academy to go on to earn a professional contract at Surrey. Arun's brother, leg-spinner and fellow club member, Muhunthan, is also attached to the Pemberton Greenish Surrey Academy. (Courtesy of: www.surreycricket.com)
CRICKETFORCE: Don't forget 'CF 2008' this weekend! Why not pop along to the main ground, help out a bit and then on Sunday, have your final indoor net! Sunday concludes our indoor net sessions at Sutton Grammar School. Weather permitting, we hope to have a strip and cage ready for club nets on Tuesday, April 8th.) |
