While you were all enthralling yourselves over the latest Coronation Street developments last night, yours truly (and the chairman) attended the Surrey Championship AGM at Old Emanuel.
The newly tarmaced car park at the ground ensured that Blakey (wearing his unfetching Purley hat) didn't fall down any potholes, much to my annoyance it has to be said!
This was probaly the most underwhelming AGM I have attended but there were some developments that affect our 2nd & 3rd XI's.
The split format (50/50 and 120 over formats) adopted by the Premier 1st XI league in 2008 was extended to Division 1 and the Premier Divisions of the 2nd and 3rd XI leagues. More food for thought for our incoming skippers at this level!!!
Now we await the start times which should be available at the end of February, which is a pain as we strive to get our fixture book (The Blue Book) published and out to members!
The proposed rule stating that a new ball MUST be taken at the start of the 2nd innings was defeated which is good news for all our fine spin bowlers at the club (and of course JC)! (Lots of love mate)! xxx
The proposed rule re extra fines or points deductions for the lack of (or inadequate) scorers was defeated (good news for the Lunners Ale Fund) as was the proposed points deduction for failing to ring in the result (and quite right too)!!
The £2k cheque for reaching the final of the inter-league cup final bounced which, along with securing a beer from the Beddo secretary, proved the highlight of the evening.
I hope to have the 5th XI fixtures this weekend by the way.
Finally, we are looking for match managers, caterers, scorers and umpires for our in depth list of midweek cricket fixtures in 2009.
Let me know if you fancy any of them.
More Soon.
