Coaching/Umpiring/Scoring/Welfare Training News
From Surrey's Coach Education Manager. (October 15, 2007)
I am writing with an update on the coach education programme Surrey Cricket is delivering over the course of the winter. There are a range of courses planned and details can be seen below. All information and booking forms etc can be found at www.surreycricket.com/cricket-in-surrey/be-a-coach

UKCC Level 1 and Level 2 Courses
The deadline for applications for the post Christmas courses is 1st November but please remember that focus clubs will have priority on bookings. The UKCC Level 1 courses are less popular than the UKCC Level 2 courses so far so there is a good chance of getting a place on a UKCC Level 1 course. Following the 7 UKCC courses that are planned there is an intention to run 1 or 2 more courses to deal with the surplus of applications from affiliated clubs.

Conversion Course
We are running a course in January 2008 over two weeks (4 evenings - Mondays and Tuesdays) at John Fisher School in Purley. This course is aimed at coaches with the old Level 1 ECB award and costs £125. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis for this course. Following the course coaches will be required to carry out supported coaching within appropriate environments before carrying out an assessment.

Coach Development Workshops
We are running 6 Coach Development Workshops before Christmas. These are aimed at UKCC Level 2 coaches and act as stepping stones towards the Club Coach Award and UKCC Level 3. They are 3 hours long and cost £25 to ECB Coaches Association members and £35 to non-members. These workshops will be filled on a first come first served basis.

Safeguarding and Protecting Children/1st Aid Courses
We are running 6 first aid courses and 5 safeguarding and protecting children courses to compliment our UKCC Level 1 and 2 courses as coaches are required to attend these courses before getting certification. While these courses are aimed at the coaches attending the UKCC courses we do open them up in the 3-4 weeks before each course to ensure a full turn out.

Please pass this onto to anyone you think might be interested in the information and please get in touch if you have any specific questions.

Kind regards
Simon
