U14s nearly blown off course! (June 27, 2009)
SCC U14s nearly blown off course but U13s to the rescue !
Beddington won the toss and elected to bowl
Sutton were left reeling at 18 for 5 off 4 overs but were rescued by Sam Wright with 54 Dhiraj Patel with 27 not out and a little help from Harry Allen with 13 all helped the young popinjays scrape to 118 on a difficult pitch with unpredictable bounce. The U13s produced important partnerships of 34 and 60 after the early partnerships produced 0 3 3 9 and 9 !
Beddington in reply were restricted to 80 for 8 off 20 overs so a win for Sutton by 38 runs
Dhiraj Patel with 4 0 16 3 and Sam Wright 4 0 17 2 were the the pick of Suttons bowlers
Champagne moment has to be Sam Wright's 6 when he stroked the ball to the square leg boundary with consumate ease and timing
Well done to Sam Wright; a really good innings of 54 off 43 balls which enabled us to post at least some semblence of a score and something to bowl at. The side then did their usual squeeze in the field and we were home to the surprise of many of the parents watching ( funny old game is cricket.)
Thanks
